Nature has a way of teaching us through observation...should we take the time to do such..... animals and all life can teach us so much about ourselves, life and God..... afterall, they too are created in God's image.....
The following poems have been written from my own observations..
THE GILDED CAGE
The bird did sing with joyful voice
inside his gilded cage
he trilled and thrilled with happiness
forever and an age
I contemplated little bird
each day as I walked by
wondered why his joy profound
yet locked up he did fly
I thought about it quite awhile
and then the light did shine
he never saw that he was caged
for him his life was fine
The cage for him was his dear world
the one where he was free
in truth it was his state of mind
which allowed him just to be
With grateful heart this little bird
did sing each day with glee
his gilded cage protected him
yet in it he was free
What a joy to watch his life
each day as I walked by
one morning then this little bird
I saw that he did die
My heart was sad but soon I saw
his job on earth was done
and now he'd gone to places high
his victory had been won
I bless this little bird of mine
who shone the light of day
upon this heart and soul of mine
in truth he was the way

TURTLIN' AROUND
Let's be a turtle, turtlin' around
instead of a hare, hare-ing around
like a mad-hatter's tea party with "all of that jazz"
and hustle and bustle and razzamatazz
A turtle moves quietly and calmly proceeds
and wins in the end and so it succeeds
it just keeps on going and myth it has proved
it beat the hare to it - all stress it removed
Two aspects of life are here portrayed
side-by-side living for all so displayed
one leads to trouble and illness and stress
the other to peace and to all it does bless
So get right on turtlin'; to yourself be so kind
experience the wonder of quiet peace of mind
why hustle and bustle when reckoned with choice
of quiet contemplation which sees one rejoice
Calmness and quiet are such soulful qualities
instead of the noise of the party-ing frivolities
the greatest distraction is noise which pollutes
one's soul with dis-ease - it's now time to salute
The peace and the quiet and stillness of soul
the listening in silence which honours the whole
slowly bring balance to life for God's sake
before we tip over and finally break
Return to the turtlin' and be one with life
forget all the stress and the hassle and strife
contemplate, meditate, observe and reflect
this peaceful process no longer reject

IN DOG'S HOUSE
We live in the perfect doggie house
what better place to be
a dog is such a wondrous friend
with perfect loyalty
With master true a doggie's love
can only be compared
with love divine, so pure and true
with all of life prepared
If your dog's home is not the one
where you would choose to live
perhaps consider what you need
to your dog to give
A dog he is the mirror of
the Source of life so true
and each of us the mirror of
the me and of the you
So its Dog's House or God's House
which place do you choose
for really folks, they're one, the same
there's nothing then to lose
So living in the doggie's house
a perfect place to be
the perfect mirror of God's home
for all eternity

THE TURTLE'S HOMELIFE
As the turtle plods along
moving forward to her song
knowing that she is it all
n'er far from home for victory's call
All One she's n'er been separated
from her home for which berated
for her look was criticised
yet she in truth is realised
No more living the infernal
our home with God is life eternal
living presence the way sublime
always One with Life Divine
Like the turtle always home
at last no longer need to roam
home with God life never ends
at One always the best of friends
No more struggle, no more fight
no more to do, just be the Light
and Love and Joy in harmony
at peace now for eternity
Homecoming of the awesome kind
knowing we've always been One Mind
now life it is the perfect clime
the turtle's known this all the time!

LIFE AS A TURTLE
Slowly and quietly they move
determinedly and purposely they groove
through water, o'er sand
from sea to the land
the turtle has something to prove
Who said that life was a race?
it's time now to set one's own pace
forget all the hassle
and "razzamatazzle"
and return to one's quiet home base
Slowly and calmly just be
absorbed in one's soul scenery
in peace now be still
serene and tranquil
'tis life as it really should be
